Temperature rising? Entertaining outdoors? Struggling with what to serve for cocktails? Problem solved … Sangria is always a sure thing.
Sangria: saNGˈgrēə. A Spanish drink of red wine mixed with lemonade, fruit and spices.
Honestly, I’ve never made Sangria with lemonade or spices but I’m always open to experimentation. I’m just so hooked on my ‘Go-To’ Sangria recipes that I have not ventured too far off track. They are that yummy!
Red or white, there is no finer drink to sip on a hot summer day than Sangria. Refreshing, colorful, super easy to make by the batch and won’t break the bank. The following Sangria recipes are what I serve at the Twilight Lounge (often):
Red Sangria:
- 1 Bottle (750 ml) Merlot Wine
- 1/2 Cup Triple Sec
- 1/2 Cup Brandy
- Sliced Lemons, Limes and Oranges
- 2 Cups (or more) Ginger Ale
Mix the first 4 ingredients in a glass pitcher and chill at least 8 hours or overnight. Just before serving add the Ginger Ale, stir gently and serve with a slice of fruit.
White Sangria:
- 1 Bottle (750 ml) of Viognier (or Pinot Grigio)
- 1 Cup Mango Vodka
- 1/4 Triple Sec
- Sliced Oranges, Apples (Granny Smith) and Limes
- Red & Green Grapes, frozen
- 2 Cups (or more) Ginger Ale
Same steps as the Red Sangria: Mix the first 4 ingredients in a glass pitcher and chill at least 8 hours or overnight. Just before serving add the Ginger Ale and frozen Grapes, stir gently and serve with fruit.
So easy and delicious, mix up a batch for this weekend and invite a friend that you haven’t seen in a while over! You can easily double or triple the recipe for a crowd and the frozen grapes keep the Sangria cold.
Not a drop left … and by the end of the evening, all the fruit was gone too!
